Unlock the Secret to Doubling Your Leads

A guide to creating lead magnets that convert

Imagine having a constant flow of high-quality leads eager to hear more about your offerings.

But instead, you’re stuck wondering why your efforts aren’t paying off.

If you’re tired of feeling invisible and want to see the results you’ve been working hard for, you’re not alone.

Let’s dive into how you can change the game by creating great lead magnets that attract great leads.

Buckle up, it’s about to get tactical.

The Cost of Poor Lead Generation

All else equal, when you double your leads you double your business.

Yet many businesses struggle with generating leads.

The lack of leads can be disheartening, especially when your product or service has the potential to make a difference.

The problem isn't effort. It's the need for a more strategic approach to attract the right people.

The frustration of not generating leads extends beyond just numbers. It’s a deeply emotional reality that can shake your entrepreneurial confidence.

You've invested time, energy, and money only to be met with an underwhelming response.

Without a steady stream of quality leads, your business growth stalls, making it harder to break free from the corporate grind you desperately want to escape.

And the dream of freedom feels increasingly out of reach.

The agitation isn't just about the immediate lack of leads, it's about the looming fear of failure.

Let’s change that.

Why Aren’t You Generating Leads?

For starters, it might be because you aren’t producing enough content.

The more content you produce (modern-day advertising) the more leads you’ll generate.

If you’ve scaled your content, your lead problem is more likely because your lead magnet isn’t attractive enough to your ideal customer.

Let’s break down what that means.

First, what’s a lead?

Is it an email address, a phone number, an Instagram follower, a YouTube subscriber, a newsletter subscriber?

Simply put, a lead is anyone you can contact.

How do you generate leads?

With lead magnets.

A lead magnet is a complete solution to a narrow problem, given away for free, to attract ideal customers.

Once your lead magnet solves the narrow problem, it should reveal the big problem… solved by your core offer.

Think of a lead magnet as the bait a fisherman uses to funnel fish into the boat.

It’s designed to capture contact information in exchange for a FREE solution.

Your lead magnet should be just as valuable as your paid offer.

No fluff. Just value.

It should be so good that your ideal customers would be willing to pay for it.

It’s said that people will buy your core offer on the expectation of future value. And the easiest way to convey future value is to provide that same value before they buy.

How to Craft Effective Lead Magnets

There are 3 types of lead magnets.

1. Reveals the Problem

This is when you offer a service that reveals the problem, and if the prospect wants it solved, they would have to pay. (i.e. Diagnosis)

This type of lead magnet works great for problems that get worse over time.

For example, revealing that your unoptimized website is the reason for poor sales results. Or a fitness evaluation revealing insufficient muscle mass.

2. Free Trial

This one’s pretty straightforward — when you allow a prospect to try your core offer, but limit the number of uses or the time they can use it.

You give them a taste, and if they want more, they’ll have to pay.

For example, for the prospect’s unoptimized website, give them 7-day access to your optimization software. Or for the prospect with insufficient muscle mass, give them a free training session.

3. Free Step in a Multi-Step Solution

Think of this lead magnet as giving away step 1 of a 10-step solution.

This strategy gives you leverage because the prospect already experienced your core offer.

For example, giving the prospect access to your optimization software, but steps 2-10 involve implementing it with your proven system. Or for the prospect with insufficient muscle mass, give them a 12-week training program, but steps 2-10 involve, training sessions, diet, nutrition, etc.

Next, there are 4 ways to deliver your lead magnet.

  1. Information: newsletters, ebooks, webinars, videos, or mini-courses

  2. Services: free audits or consultations

  3. Software: tools like spreadsheets or calculators

  4. Physical Products: books or merchandise

Any of the 3 types of lead magnets can be combined with any of the 4 delivery tactics for any business, creating the lead magnet matrix shown below.

Now it’s up to you to be creative.
